D.o.s.

Welcome to my sketchbook, the titles pretty self explanatory, but suffice to say, this section is basically rough sketches of stuff im working on from out of...you guessed it...my sketchbook. so hopefully most of these pics will end up as fully fledged works of some sort in the gallery section, unless stated otherwise.

also, these sketchbook pages were photographed with my phone instead of being scanned, just in case your wondering, i will scan them properly when i get round to it :) also, newest sketches are at the top of the page.

You ever wonder why, when people think of angels, they look to the sky, well here you go, and if your thinkin, ''well what about demons, they come from below'', well technically, they're just fallen angels :)

just in case you didn't see them first, there's three of these guys in the gallery in different styles, i was kinda going for a graffiti style with this sketch. what i really want to do is a picture of that blue diety that has all the arms as one of these guys (i cant remember what she's called) i think that would look pretty cool!

So,I watched a documentary type thing on the telly a while ago, about soldiers in Afghanistan, this was different to anything else out there as it was filmed by the soldiers themselves, anyway, the thing that stuck with me was the fact that nearly all the soldiers on there said that when they returned home, they were kind of unhappy. and i got to thinking if any of them took their own lives as a result

so a little reading on the internet, and i came across some stuff about soldiers actually taking their own lives when they returned home,, so i decided to draw a picture about it, first i checked that there wasn't anything already the same as what i wanted to do already out there, and in a sad kinda way, there wasn't much, not in the way i wanted to do anyway, it was either to literal http://www.freedomsphoenix.com/Uploads/Graphics/338-0705074330-Suicide-Soldier_oeuvre_grand.jpg or just photographs of soldiers with thier heads blown off, which i thought was not only too literal, but at the same time, too gruesome. i did find some little 'sculptures' that i liked http://www.whokilledbambi.co.uk/2011/05/casualties-of-war/ but they still werent what i had in mind, which was good, because it meant i wasn't just copying something that had been done already.

and this last sketch is what i came up with. The final coloured piece is in the gallery, go check it out :)

This is the first sketch of a piece im working on. You see, ive never drawn a picture that has a meaning, usually what you see is what you get with my drawings, so this is the first one ive done that says something, if you cant tell, the puppeteer and the puppet are meant to be the same person, im thinkin of a way to make it easier to tell, like the same colour tie, and maybe a top pocket with the same colour hankie in or something. This picture is about the fact that even though we may feel like someone else is pulling our strings in life, the truth is there isn't, its us that pulls our own strings.

there is no such thing as destiny, just different choices'' Jim Carrey, Number 23.
